Happy 4th of July

Photographers Choice: Last Day of School (Project 26 of 52)

Yes, I'm one of those moms who has a photo session before school. LOL. I've learned that if I don't get it done and out of the way. Pictures of my little guy just wont get captured. Plus, he usually looks a hot mess when he gets out of school.
When, I first brought up the idea of taking pictures at our local park. He really wasn't trying to hear it. However, this boy started to act as if he was taking pictures for GQ magazine.

Here's my submission for Project 52. Stop by and join the party.

PS: These pictures were actually taken with my Canon

Fathers (Week 25 of 52) Project #52

Even though my son has his biological father. He was blessed with also having a super amazing step-father and grandfather. Being a young mom I depended on my parents a lot to assist me with raising my son. I was a young single mom just trying to make ends meet. My father really stepped up to the plate with assisting me with raising my son. Their were times when I did t have a baby sitter for work and I would have to drop my son of at my fathers job. To avoid the long drawn out story. He's been very influential in my and my sons life.

From day one the mister has assisted me with my mini me. He has children of his own and does his best to treat all of the children equally. He's very involved in his sports. So much so that when my sons biological father attends his games. We usually get pulled to the side by other parents because they had no idea the mister wasn't his bio father.

Dating the Mister #Datenight

For me, it’s so easy to get consumed with other things in life that I forget to date my husband. Well on Wednesday, on a whim we went to the park to have dinner. Nothing fancy, I really just wanted to be in his presence and enjoy the moment.
A couple of years ago, I purchased a picnic basket from the thrift store for a couple of bucks. Of course because it sat on our front porch for so long the mister threw it in the garage. Well, I went to look for it, you know just to give our dinner the romantic full affect. (it defiantly took a little longer than expected to find. )

Upon arriving to the park it was nice to see that so many other people had dinner at the park in mind too. We circled a couple of times, and found the perfect parking spot.

Prior to leaving I grabbed my camera to capture the moment.
Seeing how it feels as if we only have two months of summer. It was nice to just get out and enjoy each other…

Gallery Wall for A Boys Room (Part 2)

I decided to put his certificates in frames. Since it seems as if every inch in our home is covered with something on the walls, I had no idea where I would display his hard work.

I decided to actually make his wall more of an organized gallery wall. I just rearranged a few things and used the items that we already had on hand.

As many of you may know I am in love with all things monogrammed. I usually can find monogrammed items at the craft store for under $5.00.

I found the wooden “G” at the craft store for under $2.00 and spray painted it with some chalk spray paint we already had on hand.

The decals were purchased from target awhile back.

Most of the 8x10 collage pictures were free (Walgreen's usually has specials throughout the year.)

The certificate frames are from the dollar tree for two = $2.00

The ABC’s picture is from Target which was purchased on clearance for under $15

Long story short he was super excited when he arrived home from and seen his wall. He immediacy

End of School Updates (Part 1)

I can’t believe my son is almost finished with his first year in middle school. I remember around this time last year I wondering how he would do in middle school, how his peers would influence him and what type of influence he would be to his peers.
By no means has this year been easy for the both of us…

What I’ve learned as a parent is consistency is key. I try to be as consistent with him as possible. I want him to really look back and say to himself that my mom really cared about my education and my future.

If you follow me on Snapchat (simplytasheena) then you know all too well about this day. I was running late to the ceremony. Due to stating off my day later than usual, I had an idea of what I was going to wear. However, I have the bad habit of confirming the time of an event at the last minute. Even though my son told me several times that this event was starting at 8 am. When I finally got back home from walking the dog, I had less than 30 minutes to get dressed and out of the house off to his school.

To my surprise I made it 6 minutes late and did not miss him receiving his certificates…

He was so excited, he was so proud of himself. I was so proud of him. He did it! We did it!

I wanted to show him that his great work will never go on noticed in our home. I knew I wanted to post his certificates somewhere in our home. However, I didn’t know where or how. I’ve noticed that he loves seeing his test scores displayed on our walls at home. However, this time around I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to surprise him, and at the same time show him it would not go unnoticed at home…

Pond's Soothe Towelettes #Review

Quick Review:
I am simply in love with these towelettes. I purchased them from target awhile back while doing a coupon transaction, and let me be the one to tell you that they are simply everything! I love having them as my night cap. Plus they smell simply amazing!! They haven't broken my skin out at all. Usually after I take my shower at night I apply the towelette to cleanse my face and to also relax me. I love how the towelette feels when I apply it to my skin. It's not rough and feels so soothing. I wake up the next day with my face feeling moisturized and soft. (They really need to make a facial mask out of this scent. )

Trust me; you will thank me later if you purchase these!!

(I purchased this product with my own money. I was not given this product for free to review.)
